I posted a playlist for one of my main characters in When Rain Falls last week. Of course, I wanted to share the type of music Detective Darnell Jackson would enjoy. Darnell was a bit of a bad boy when he was younger. He would have been heavy into hip hop. Later, he mellowed out. Some of his favorite singers are Luther Vandross and Maxwell. As a Christian, he has some favorites like the Canton Spirituals and Smokie Norful. I had fun with this playlist! Enjoy!

We talked about the Victory Gospel Series and When Rain Falls on the Black Author Network Radio Show. I always enjoy talking to the host Ella Curry. She is an awesome supporter of authors. My interview starts an hour into the radio show.
I’m exploring and researching as I develop the characters in my second novel, When Memories Fade (March 2013). A few of the characters from When Rain Falls will return, one being Candace Johnson. I’m really excited about Candace’s role in this second novel as a mentor to the main character Angel Roberts.
Angel loves music and comes from a family of entertainers. While putting together a playlist of songs for her, I went back and put together a playlist for Candace. Candace likes powerful emotional singers like Yolanda Adams, Karen Clark Sheard, Martha Munizzi and CeCe Winans. She is a huge Whitney Houston and Luther Vandross fan. Enjoy some of Candace’s favorites below.

Sharp and smooth would be how I describe one of my main characters in When Rain Falls, Detective Darnell Jackson. From the introductory scene until the last chapter, Detective Jackson, charmed me the entire time I developed his character. Despite being a female writer, I found writing from Detective Jackson’s male perspective enjoyable. His antics definitely cracked me up and I wished he wasn’t a fictional man. Often times the scenes flowed faster than it did with the other main character, Candace Johnson.
Both characters had experienced loss. Candace’s loss was a bit more intense with losing loved ones to violent crimes. Darnell had been struggling with his own loss. Divorce is often equated to death since individuals lose a significant other and portion of their life. His loss affected him enough that he moved from the West coast back to his roots in the Carolinas. read more
Today, I stopped by DeeSWhite.com to talk to author and inspirational speaker D.S. White. There were some great questions asked on the When Rain Falls Virtual Book Tour. Dee was one of the ones who asked some of the best questions. Enjoy!
