The Clock is Ticking
Okay, the clock is always ticking. At least as long as it has a battery or is plugged into some power. When I was 35, I set a goal to publish a book before I turned 40. I turned 39 last month. I do have a short story that will be published later this year, but over the past four years, I have “birthed” two manuscripts.
For awhile, it seemed like the clock did stop ticking. I just pushed my goal to the side. Life happened, some of it painful. After a crazy 2009 (I’ve totally moved forward – PRAISE GOD!), I jumped back on track.
I pitched my first manuscript, When Rain Falls, at the 2010 Faith and Fiction Retreat. I’m so thankful to Tiffany Warren for adding the pitch sessions this year. That was the best kick in the rear I needed. So far, one publisher sent a rejection letter, but two other publishers requested the full manuscript. I’ve sent one off this week and I’m getting the other package ready this morning. Now it’s all about waiting.
But I’m not just sitting around, I have 3-4 other stories going now and it’s a matter of choosing which one to focus on. I’m just as excited to start a new story as I am to finally send my other “babies” out into the world. I will keep you posted.
In the meantime, don’t forget to support my very first fiction publication. Home Again: Stories of Restored Relationships is available for pre-order now.

Congratulations on your ms requests, Ty. Life has a way of getting in the way, whether we let it or not. Glad to see you still pursuing your writing. I’ve recently had to kick myself in the rear to jumpstart my own writing, but it seems to be working.
Thank you for stopping by, Patricia. I’m glad to hear you are back on track with writing because I know you have stories to share. Can’t wait to read them!
