I have had the opportunity to read the Hidden Faces and Kanner Lake Series by Brandilyn Collins. Last November, she released a stand alone book, Dark Pursuit.
Darell Brooke is known as the "King of Suspense,” but right now living up to that name has become a struggle for the first time in his career. After ninety-nine books, he can barely keep his thoughts coherent long enough to string together a complete scene. His loss of memory and feeble attempts at writing have come as a result of a car accident that left his seventyish body changed forever. Darell is not the only one with issues. Seems he has a relative with even bigger issues.

3 While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.
4 Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, “Why this waste of perfume? 5 It could have been sold for more than a year’s wages and the money given to the poor.” And they rebuked her harshly.
6 “Leave her alone,” said Jesus. “Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 7 The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me. 8 She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial. 9 Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”
There were a few events that occurred between Palm Sunday and Thursday. Jesus being anointed was very much a preparation for what would take place by the end of the week. The verse, “The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them anytime you want,” perfectly matches today’s book.
Holy Week starts on Palm Sunday. This week, I will be highlighting some books you might want to consider adding to your reading list. The one for today concentrates on the period 50 days after Easter, the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit shows up on the scene.
12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the Festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
“Hosanna! “
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Blessed is the king of Israel!”
14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:
15 “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;
see, your king is coming,
seated on a donkey’s colt.”
Verse 15 above is considered prophesy fulfilled. In Zechariah 9:9, this very event was recorded almost 800 years prior. That’s some mind-blowing info!
I have a confession to make. Well sort of. I’ve been going through some transitions this year. Major ones. It seems like one transition has had a domino affect. Today, with it being Palm Sunday, I made a decision to stop stalling with one particular decision.
I made a decision at the beginning of the year, that is was time to find a new church home. The only problem with that decision is taking the next step and actually visiting churches. Visiting a new church seems like it should be easy to do, but I’m an introvert and putting yourself out there is not something I enjoy doing. Plus, I live in the South. There are churches everywhere. All types of denominations – Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Episcopal, Presbyterian, etc. Then, there are the non-denominations.
