Meet Miss Eugeena
I’m working on my current work-in-progress. It’s a cozy mystery and right now it’s a stand-alone book, but I can foresee a series with Miss Eugeena. Who? Eugeena Patterson is the main character in this cozy. There is a little piece of most of the feisty women over fifty that I know personally. A few years ago while jotting some ideas in my journal, a character sketch for Miss Eugeena started to form. From that moment, I started contemplating writing a novel for the first time.
A couple of ideas that are making this WIP a lot of fun are:
- Lots of folks have mentioned how publishers are attracted to books with romance, so Miss Eugeena has a love interest (or rather a certain widower is interested in her). Miss Eugeena is a widow herself, with three grown children and she now lives alone. As a retired school teacher, she manages to find trouble just by stepping out her front door.
- There is definitely some mayhem resulting from a dead body and a missing person. Even with all this, there are quite a few humorous moments, making for a light-hearted read.
- I’m using a first person point of view (POV) which also makes the writing experience a little different from the third person used in When Rain Falls.
If you check the Twitter Updates on the right side of my recently designed TyoraMoody.com blog, you can see my progress.
This week, the progress has been a little slow, but I expect it to pick up now that I have the chapter outline. My goal is to finish the rough draft by July 1, 2008.
Happy Saturday!
