Time for an Adjustment

Devotions, Nonfictionon February 12th, 2008No Comments

A few weeks ago, I talked about setting priorities, using the story of Martha and Mary. In this familiar story, Jesus scolded Martha for not making him a priority. Now mind you, at first glance, it might seem Martha’s preparations for her special guest made it appear Jesus was a priority. This assumption goes downhill when her obsession with her workload causes her frustration. Jesus is the one who requests all come to him who are weary and burdened (Matthew 11:28), so certainly any frustrations stemmed from Martha’s frantic service.  Who knows, her sister might have eventually helped, but it was more important for Mary to fill her cup with spiritual food versus helping to prepare physical food.

In the next few weeks, using the book of Psalms, I will post a series called, “How to Adjust Your Priorities” There will be seven principles discussed in this series.

Carolina Christian Writers

WIP Updateson February 9th, 2008No Comments

Carolina Christian Writers has started a new blog, hosting book reviews, author interviews, as well as agent and editor interviews. CCW recently began in October 2007 as a local group of writers with the goal of becoming an official chapter of ACFW.

I officially joined the group in December 2007 and attended my first meeting this month. I’m happy to be apart of a local writer’s group and feel this will kick me into gear this year. Most of the members are ACFW members. This is my second year with ACFW and I’m looking forward to attending the annual conference this fall in Minneapolis.

As for the CCW blog, in about two weeks, I will be posting a review and interview. Each week a different member will post. This weekend on the CCW blog, we kick off our first review with The Cure by Athol Dickson (reviewed by Todd Greene). Stop over and be sure to bookmark our new blog.
