Can We Count on You?

Devotionson January 7th, 2008No Comments

This is going to be a different kind of post for me. CookieAisle is usually pretty light-hearted, but I feel like most of the time I stayed bottled up, so every now and then I’m going to post my opinions. Just for thought.

The other night when I picked up the phone, I immediately felt a sense of annoyance. Why? The caller was friendly enough and he wasn’t selling anything. At least not a product. He called specifically to ask if he could count on my vote for a certain presidential candidate.  I told him not yet.  He seemed to be taken aback, but in all honesty I’m undecided.

Out with the Old…

Yeah, you know the rest. In with the new.

Cookieaisle.com may look a little different when you visit. I’m working out a new look so I’m trying out new templates. The “chocolate chip” design has been around for three years and being a web designer, it’s time for a change.

I’ve been making changes all around me, especially in the house. Some of my changes at home are so I can get organized enough to write. Watching too much HGTV can also make one anxious for changes around the house. Painting and purchasing new carpet are probably not good ideas, so I’ll settle on changing the blog design. :)

Book Review | Fearless

fearless Fearless
by Robin Parrish

Recently on a mailing list, someone asked what were the favorite books from 2007.  I chose Fearless by Robin Parrish.  This book is the second book in the Dominion Trilogy Series.  Last year, I read the first book, Relentless. The storyline matched the title perfectly because the novel was action packed from beginning to the end.  I was so  excited about this book I suggested it to a coworker.  I didn’t think it would be the type of book she would normally enjoy, but being an avid reader, I knew she would be pulled into the action like myself. Well, after waiting a whole year for this second book to be released, I must say Fearless was well worth the wait.

30 Days Through the Bible

Nonfictionon January 1st, 2008No Comments

I figured I would add a blog entry for the first day of 2008.  I scoured other blogs today and over at Marilynn Griffith’s blog, she asked her annual question about “your word” for the year. I’m still pondering mine and will reveal it later this week.  It’s an “ouch” word and I know it was tailored made for me, especially after the year I had in 2007. I’ve let and still will be letting things go.

30days-bibleAs far as new beginnings, I did want to get a headstart on finding a personal bible study for 2008.  In the past, I have read (or should I say attempted to read) through the bible by following a reading plan.  This year, I’m starting with a survey of the bible and plan on tackling books of the bible I have not studied as often.

The book I’m currently reading now is 30 Days Through the Bible by F.L. LaGard Smith.

Here’s a description…
