Charlotte Faith and Fiction Weekend – April 20-21, 2007

EVENTSon April 22nd, 2007No Comments

I attended the Saturday workshop and here are a few photos.

–Ty

Friday 4/20 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm- Faith and Fiction Fellowship

Christian Fiction authors Yolonda Tonette Sanders (Soul Matters), Tiffany L Warren (What a Sista Should Do/Farther than I Meant to Go, Longer than I Meant to Stay), Leslie J. Sherrod (Like Sheep Gone Astray), Mata Elliott (Forgivin’ ain’t Forgettin’), Bonnie Hopkins (Seasons) and Charlotte’s own LaTonya Mason (Good To Me) held an evening of fellowship. The authors shared their inspiration for writing, read excerpts and sign books.

Ty’s NOTE: I couldn’t make it to this event, but enjoyed the Saturday workshop. The only author I missed getting a photo was the event host LaTonya Mason. I’m a little shy about going up to people to ask for photos, but I wished I had because she never stood still long enough for me to capture an image. Definitely a dynamic speaker. Really WalkWorthy has a wonderful selection of authors.

Saturday 4/21 9:00 am – 2:00 pm – Christian Fiction Writer’s Workshop

Each author shared the ins and outs of writing for Christ, and how an aspiring writer can succeed in this ministry area. The cost of this workshop was $50 and it was well worth it and beyond.

Both events were held at Chappell Memorial Baptist Church – 110 Bradford Drive – Charlotte, NC 28208

I’m looking forward to catching some of these ladies and others later this summer at the Faith and Fiction Retreat hosted by Tiffany L. Warren.

REVIEW | Becoming A Man

Bible Studyon April 3rd, 2007No Comments

Becoming A ManThe BECOMING A MAN DVD Bible Study was designed for fathers and sons. The subtitle is “A Father and Son Journey Together.” Two DVD’s, a leader’s guide, a workbook and leather keychain are included in the package.

Yesterday I reviewed WILD ABOUT YOU and there is a distinct difference in the presentation, mainly because this series was designed for adult men and their sons (ages 16-19). The feel and design of the DVD and books are masculine and quite serious. Then again, it should, because in today’s society, becoming a man takes a lot more effort than physically growth. There are serious issues that need to be addressed that are often downplayed in the world. read more
