Vacation & Writing

WIP Updateson December 20th, 2006No Comments

Well, I’ve been officially off for the holidays as of Monday. Two whole weeks! What can one do?

I have pretty much finished all my Christmas shopping. Sometime this week I will make a trip to the grocery store to pick up ingredients for cookies. Folks have already been requesting my gingerbread cookies which are my absolute favorite cookies to bake and eat this time of year. Something about the smell of gingerbread just lifts my spirits. Feel free to check out the recipe on CookieAisle.com.

With all this time on my hand, I’m getting a sneak peek into the life of a full time writer. For the past three days, I have been rewriting and go through Book One of the tentatively titled “Overcomer’s series”. If (or shall I say when – nothing wrong with positivity) it’s published I’m not sure how well that title will stick, but I like it as a working title for now.

I’m aiming to get to 45,000 words by the end of the week. If I can used my time wisely, I could possibly have three quarters of the book written by New Year’s. I think it is a possibility because now I have a better handle on my characters and have finally tackled my POV troubles.
2007 is the year to complete manuscripts, find critique partners, an editor and work on proposals. I hope to sneak away to a writer’s conference or two during the year as well.

Keep an eye on the counters on the right side of the page for my progress. In the meantime…

Have a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!

BOOK REVIEW | Straight Up

Straight UpStraight Up
By Michael Stevens

The subtitle for the book Straight Up is “The Church’s Official Response to the Epidemic of Down Low Living.” Personally, this reader has not seen where any church has addressed this in the past few years since the down low lifestyle has been increasingly getting attention. Looks like, the author, Michael Stevens has touched upon a greatly needed conversation in the church with his new book. read more
